Quick Beauty Favorites

I've always been a fan of products that make my beauty routine easier and faster, but since becoming a mom, I worship these products! Here are a few that I have been hooked on...
OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go

OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go
The key word is 'to go.' I love this stuff. I've always been a huge fan of OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil but the 'to go' version is genius. Who wants to carry around a far of this in their purse, just waiting to leak or spill? This makes it easy to keep my cuticles moisturized during this miserable Michigan winter. I like to apply it before I put my winter gloves on, letting it soak in real good while I'm driving with my gloves on.
Benefit Cosmetics Lollitint
Benefit Cosmetics Lollitint
I can feel confident and get out the door really quick with this stuff. A swipe on both my cheeks gives me great color that makes me look ready to conquer the day (even though I'm probably running on limited sleep). The purple undertones mask redness in my face. I also use this on my lips as well, with a gloss over it.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm
Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm
Michigan winters are harsh on faces! We're currently in the middle of Snowmagedden and I'm pretty much snowed in for the next few days. My poor lips have been so dry being outside in the cold and inside the house with heat on. I recently received a sample of Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm and fell in love. I normally prefer petroleum based balms but this one contains beeswax and I love how it feels on my lips. It's not drying at all. Goes on smooth and has lasting power.

OPI Sheer Tint in Be Magentale with Me

OPI Sheer Tint in Be Magentale with MeI'm always keeping my eyes open for pretty, light nail polish shades for every day wear for work. I spotted the new OPI Sheer Tints Top Coats and had to buy the pinkish-red Be Magentale with Me shade. In the bottle, it reminded me so much of a fun nail polish I had when I was younger.

I LOVE this polish as a quick go-to polish that will go with every outfit. I've seen other bloggers put 3-4 coats on it to make it more opaque, but I like the sheer look with my white tips coming through (this is right after I had my son, and the prenatal vitamins were still working overtime...such long nails!). Pictured is just two coats over my natural nail. It's such a elegant, clean look. I use this polish all the time!

What do you think? Do you like the look of this sheer polish? Or would you be more likely to wear it over a color coat?

Updated post: I can't find this color online any longer! Here's a close duplicate I found.

OPI I'm Feeling Sashy

opi im feeling sashyHappy Saturday! It's so gloomy here in Michigan! Here's something to brighten your day...more purple nails! My BFF and LipglossBreak contributor, Tina, swatched OPI I'm Feeling Sashy for us. So pretty for Fall!

OPI Gelcolor in My Vampire is Buff

opi gelcolorLast minute manicure! I ran to the the nail salon closest to my office in Chicago. 2Q Nails on State St. in River North. I normally don't get gel manicures in salons (my best friend Tina usually does them for me) but I'm in crunch and won't have time to do my nails before my brother in law's wedding this weekend!

I wanted to go with a neutral nude so it would match whatever I decided to wear to the rehearsal and to wedding this weekend. CND Shellac's pale pinks (check out my Shellac swatches) are all so sheer, so I decided to try out OPI Gelcolor. I love how the color turned out! I chose My Vampire is Buff. It's a creamy nude that will go with any outfit color choice. I've only had it on for a day so I can't report on the wear yet, but I will definitely follow up and let you know how long it lasts!

I love being able to not have to worry about my nails for at least a few days....Happy Friday!

The Man Repeller Glossy Box

I'm a huge fan of the Glossy Box monthly beauty box, but this month was especially awesome because it featured Leandra, from ManRepeller.com, favorite Winter beauty picks.
Instead of the normal pink and black Glossy Box, this one was a shiny silver and black. There's no feeling like opening a Glossy Box. The product possibilities are endless! Inside were 7 goodies...

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara - LOVE. This mascara contains 3 different volume fibers that create the false lash effect. I love getting small mascaras for traveling!

Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum - This treatment is suppose to tone and hydrate while controlling shine and minimizing the appearance of pores.

Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution - For daily use, this formula is suppose to condition and hydrate while nourishing your skin. Sounds like a must for this harsh winter we're having!

Narcisco Rodriguez for her Eau de Toilette Spray - I also love little perfume samples for traveling. This is a very flowery scent. More appropriate for a night out then every day for work.

OPI 'Can't Let Go' Liquid Sand Nail Lacquer - I want this polish in all shades. The liquid sand effect is so cool. Pictured below is one base coat and two color coats, and no top coat. It feels just like sand on your nails. It's a little odd at first but I got use to it after an hour. It's beautifully textured with two different size sparkle flecks, and long lasting. I thought it was going to be a nightmare to remove but it came off really easily with acetone.

Sebastian Professional Potion 9 - Not only did this make my hair smell like I just left the salon, but it made my hair look healthy and shiny. It's suppose to help restore lost moisture which again, is important during these dry, winter months.

Tarte glamazon pure performance 12-hour lipstick - This color screams 'all eyes on me.' It's a vivid red lipstick, including a blend of rich mango, avocado and shea butters. So not only is long lasting, but it's good for your lips.
You can subscribe to Glossy Box on a month to month basis for $21/month, or sign up for 3 months for $60, 6 months for $115 or a year for $220. If you like to try and experiment with new beauty products, this is a great program to join!

OPI Designer Series - DS Bold swatch

Tina has been playing with OPI's new Designer Series, here's what she had to say:

New this fall from OPI's Designer Series is "OPI DS Bold." It's a pinkish/coral shade (rather than red as described by OPI), with silver and pink glitter. I have applied two coats in this picture, but the more coats you apply...the bolder it looks. It's a bit difficult to remove (due to the glitter) however; it's a fun color for fall, so it's worth it!

OPI Samoan Sand at BCBG Max Azria

OPI has kicked off the Spring 2012 shows doing the nails for BCBG Max Azria this morning! Samoan Sand was used on models’ nails and toes. The nude look continues for Spring ‘12! OPI Black Shatter

My BFF Tina played with some OPI Shatter over the weekend. Here's a pic of how it turned out. I love it! She used OPI "The Color to Watch" nail polish, with OPI "Black Shatter."

OPI Announces Beauty Bus Foundation 2010 Beauty Drive Sponsorship

OPI joins The Beauty Bus Foundation as Presenting Sponsor for the first annual Beauty Drive fundraising event on April 25, 2010, at The Mark for Events in Los Angeles. Beauty Bus Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free in-home beauty and grooming treatments to empower homebound, terminally and chronically ill people and their primary caregivers. The Beauty Drive will highlight beauty treatments from professional makeup artists, as well as manicurists from ROB|B – the nation’s first OPI Concept Salon.

OPI is delighted to sponsor The Beauty Bus Foundation’s first Beauty Drive fundraiser,” remarks Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “I am a strong believer that nail lacquer color can change not only your look, but your outlook. Beauty Bus Foundation takes that concept to the next level and shows how a little bit of beauty can go a long way in brightening someone’s day.”

All proceeds raised by the event will go directly to support Beauty Bus Foundation. In addition to beauty treatments, the event will feature celebrity guest host Lisa Sigell (reporter, KCBS/KCAL), a silent auction, a hair show by Janine Jarman of BRAVO’s Shear Genius and an interactive gourmet brunch.

“We are thrilled to partner with OPI to present our first annual Beauty Drive,” says Beauty Bus Foundation President and Co-founder Alicia Marantz Liotta. “With the support of organizations like OPI that strive to blend beauty, community, charity and happiness, Beauty Bus Foundation is able to continue to bring smiles and solace to homebound, terminally and chronically ill people and their primary caregivers.”

Double Giveaway - OPI Pink of Hearts & DuWop Pink Shimmer Lip Venom

Two great giveaways from two great beauty brands, doing something for a great cause...

For the third year, OPI has created a Pink of Hearts Nail Lacquer to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure to raise awareness of breast cancer during October. In 2009, OPI will donate $25,000 to Komen for the Cure. Pink of Hearts is a pretty, empowering light pink - a color meant to inspire and uplift. Each bottle features a special pink-ribbon cap wrap.

The color is a staple ever women should have. It reminds me a lot of Zoya's Barbie pink. It's super cute on both hands and toes and stayed on a good 5 days with base and top coats.
This October, DuWop’s Pink Shimmer Lip Venom takes on a new meaning, with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Cosmetic Executive Women Foundation’s Cancer & Careers program. Cancer & Careers is a revolutionary resource for working women with cancer, their employers, co-workers and caregivers that provides information and guidance for working women during and after cancer treatment. Featuring the same formula as the original bestselling Lip Venom, Pink Shimmer is infused with an extra sheen and light color, and is available at Sephora.com.

This is a very glossy gloss, and gives the illusion of fuller lips. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that DuWop was one of the first lip plumpers on the scene, and in my opinion, the best. If you are normally bothered by the slight 'sting' of lip plumpers, or are hesitant to try them out because of the sting, it helps l to put a balm on your lips first, and then apply the gloss. The balm keeps the gloss from stinging but will still give you a fuller look.

Nail Polish Break - Jet Setting Nails

I always seem to let my nails go dull when traveling. I hesitate to paint my nails before my trip becuase I don't want to pack nail polish (I've had it explode in my suitcase before) to cover chips and I definitely don't want to pack nail polish remover. So, I usually slap a clear coat on and then travel away.

It's a lot different when traveling for 2 months...my nails can't be naked for 2 months! I tried out OPI's Nic's Sticks before my trip and my world has changed! Shaped like a pen, Nic's Sticks go on surprisingly smooth and provide great coverage and color with the standard two coats. They are airport carry-on friendly and don't keep me worried about leakage in my bags. I packed two light colors, 'Are We There Yet?' (fitting for my 34 hours of travel time) and 'Feeling Girly.' Both look great by themselves or with a french manicure.I also packed ELF Nail Polish Remove Pads for quick touch ups. One pad removed all of the color from both hands. Added bonus, they have a citrus smell and don't stink up my room! Another added bonus, just like everything else at EyesLipsFace.com, they are only $1!
