Sally Hansen Magnetic nail polish = Amazing!

Sally Hansen Magnetic in Electric Emerald
Happy St. Patty's Day weekend! I was told I had to wear green to work on Friday, so of course, my nails had to be green too! I saw Sally Hansen Magnetic at CVS and was intrigued. I'm so glad I took a chance on this polish. It's great quality and so easy to use! I can't believe how easy it was to create this nail design.

I first applied a clear base coat and then one thin coat of color. For the third coat I put on a THICK coat of color on one nail, and then held the magnetic cap over the nail for 10 seconds. Voila! Waves magically appeared (okay, I know it's not magic, it's science!). The picture doesn't do this nail polish justice. It's kind of like a hologram when you look at it in person. I did each nail one at a time and used the magnet immediately after I painted each nail.

The magnetic cap comes off separately from the brush, and has a 'guide' on it so you know how to place it on your nail. I can not stress enough how easy this was to do. The KEY is for the third coat to be thick, so the magnet can move the polish. I applied a quick dry top coat so the thick coat wasn't too much of a pain to dry.

I was out the door in 30 minutes after applying this nail polish + quick dry top coat. I definitely want this in more colors. Love it!

Giveaway Break - Elle nail polish set

This may be old news to you, but July was National Ice Cream Month! Besides eating lots of ice cream, I celebrated by painting my nails ice cream colored flavors! My husband’s favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip. No matter where we go it’s what he orders. I used Elle nail polishes in Surfer Babe & Go Go Coco to create a mint chocolate chip nail look. Both my version and the Elle version are below.

This is my first time trying Elle nail polish. It went on smooth and had solid color with 2 coats.  I liked it, especially the minty green Surfer Babe. I’m going to do all my nails this colors next. It’s a great summer color for nails and toes. Elle nail polish is sold at Kohl’s stores and Kohls.com for $10.

Like the mint chocolate chip look? You can try it out for yourself by entering to win a bottle of Surfer Babe & Go Go Coco!

Barielle's High Steppin' Summer Polish Collection

For summer 2010, boogie down with new disco-inspired nail polishes in the High Steppin’ collection from Shades by Barielle. Six metallic hues and Barielle’s signature healthy “3-free” formulation make hands and feet dance with style.

Flashing back to the 70’s, get groovy with Electric Boogie—an inky metallic blue with teal glitter; shake it up with Belly Dancea nude taupe with shimmer; party until dawn with Night Moves—a sparkling metallic silver; turn it around with Passion Pirouette—a grape metallic purple; sway to the style with Slow Motion—a light metallic lavender and let loose with Freestyle—a cool metallic mint with silver glitter.

Celebrity Manicurist Elle says, “When creating this collection, we wanted to pump up the volume on nail hues. Inspired by bright summer whites, we injected some high-voltage color into any look from bikini to boardwalk.”

Formulated to provide nails with safe, healthy and long-lasting glossy color coverage, Shades by Barielle is free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl-phthalate. Women can also safely use Barielle products throughout pregnancy.

Hard Candy line at Walmart

I use to save up babysitting money when I was younger to buy Hard Candy nail polish at Marshall Fields (now Macys). I was too young at the time to appreciate the quality of the nail polish, and was more impressed that each bottle came with a funky, colorful ring.

Now, you can buy this same product, same package and funky, colorful ring, at Walmart. I was lucky enough to try out the Kaleyedascope Eyeshadow in Make Believe, Blush Crush in Honeymoon, Plumping Serum in Girl Next Door and the Just Nails nail polish, pictured, in Mr. Wrong. The line also carries body shimmer, mascara, eye liners, lipstick and more.

The shadows are great. I've only tried them out dry, but apparently they create a more dramatic look when applied wet. The shadow duos come in fun color combinations and retails for $6 at Walmart.com.
I LOVE the blush. It gave a super natural flushed look. It has a swirl of shimmery highlighter in it so I looked dewy, but not too overdone. It reminds me a lot of NARS Orgasm blush, but with softer highlights in it. It retails for $7 at Walmart.com.

The Plumping Serum lipgloss is awesome. No stinging involved in this plumping, just the illusion of fuller lips. The gloss I received is sheer, so I'd like to give this a try in a color that will stand out more. Has a slight minty feel to it, and looks really good over a lipstick. Retails at $6 at Walmart.com.

The nail polish, of course, is classic. All colors are super unique. With a base coat, two color coats and a top coat, this lasted about 4-5 days (while washing dishes w/o gloves) and was easy to touch up in between. The nail polish retails for $5. Don't forget to wear the matching ring :)

Overall I'm super impressed with this line. If you're looking to add a new product to your makeup collection, something new, something funky, start here. I hope more makeup brands follow Hard Candy's steps...a quality line moving to an affordable outlet.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

In the spirit of St. Patty's Day, I'm sporting Zoya nail polish in Midori and the neon green from LA Colors Tease eye palette.
