CND Shellac Pink Bikini & Lobster Roll

I recently got a CND Shellac manicure for my last work and personal trips. I just didn't want to worry about nail polish chipping and packing polish. I love Shellac for this reason. It stays! Check out my other CND Shellac posts. I was really excited to try out their new colors, Pink Bikini and Lobster Roll.
I chose Pink Bikini for my vacation manicure. I thought it was bold and summery and it matched my bathing suit. This manicure lasted 2 whole weeks. No chips or sign of wear on the tips, just growth which showed after the first week. Since I'm taking prenatal vitamins the new growth showed a bit sooner than normal.
For my last work trip and for the 4th of July, I chose Lobster Roll. It has a little bit of orange in it, but definitely considered a 'red.' I don't wear red nail polish often, but I like to when I'm wearing beige, blue or black outfits and I know it will act as a pop of color. I'm still rocking this manicure 10 days later. No chips or wear, just new growth.

Have you tried a gel manicure yet? If so, what's your favorite brand and color? Check out my other CND Shellac reviews!

CND Shellac Cityscape & Negligee

This is CND Shellac in Cityscape with a layer of Negligee. I wanted a light color for work travel that would go with most of my outfits. I tried Silver VIP Status over my pinky (if you can see the sparkles) but decided to opt out of shimmer for a work trip. I'll try the shimmer again when I don't have to meet with clients. I can see the shimmer being cute on toes for the summer. Here are some more CND Shellac swatches.

CND Shellac Layering Gotcha & Romantique

This past weekend I joined my husband on a work trip to Orlando. The last thing I want to worry about on a relaxing vacation is chipping nail polish, so of course, Wednesday night before my trip I had to get Shellac.

I wanted a light pink that would go with most outfits I brought, but wanted to try something new with the colors I have, so opted for layering. Pictured is one coat of Gotcha, and two coats of Romantique (with the normal base and top coat). I love the way it turned out. It's a creamy light pink, and looks great with a tan (I used a Dr. Gross Alpha Beta Glow self tanning towel before I left).  Going on day #7 and still no chips!

CND Shellac in Rubble

This is Rubble from CND Shellac's new color line. I LOVE it. I wore it on my last business trip as a neutral color that would go with everything. It's so hard to describe this color. It's like a grayish brown solid color, but has an opaqueness to it. This is a great new neutral color for the Shellac line! Check out my other CND Shellac swatches.

CND Shellac in Dark Lava

Finally! Tina and I got our hands on some of CND's new Shellac colors. Tina, being the great friend and person she always is, did my nails for my work holiday party last week. I chose Dark Lava, which is a deep burgundy. I wore a leather dress, and was feeling a little 'rocker chic,' so wanted to do a darker color. In some lights it could also look like a dark brown.

Per usual, Shellac stayed on this time for a full 7 days without chipping. I proactively took it off so I could swatch some additional colors :)

Happy Friday!

CND Shellac in Cityscape

This was my Thanksgiving Day manicure. I would normally go a bit darker for Fall but because it was a bit warmer, I thought I'd do a lighter color.

This is from CND Shellac's newest line of colors. It's called Cityscape, and it's a light, creamy gray. I love colors like this...they go with practically everything, and I don't have to spend extra time planning my outfits around my manicure (yes, sometimes I do this!).

CND Shellac Black Pool & Negligee

It's been awhile since I experimented with CND Shellac layering. I wanted to paint my nails blue to support the Detroit Tigers this week in the playoffs. I did my research and found that a common CND Shellac layer is Black Pool with Negligee over top.

It's definitely a blue! In some lights you can see the shimmer from Negligee. I love the way this turned out. CND Shellac colors never disappoint me! Check out my other CND Shellac swatches.

Go Detroit Tigers!

Nail Polish Colors to Wear to Work

When I’m traveling for work it’s hard to match a bold nail color to several different outfits, so I’m constantly looking for a pink or nude neutral colors to paint my nails before I hit the road. Here are my ‘Splurge’ and ‘Steal’ recommendations for a soft pink nail polish that will go with everything in your work wardrobe.

Splurge
If you can splurge on a gel manicure, do it. Then you won’t have to worry about your nails chipping while traveling. My favorite Shellac color is Romantique. If you go to a reputable salon, (make sure they are CND certified) a Shellac manicure can range from $30-$70 (depending on where you live).  Make sure to keep an eye out for flash deals sites as well (Groupon, Google Offers, Living Social), they often have salon deals you can put towards a gel manicure.

Steal
Essence Colour & Go nail polish.  The color Pink Smoothie is similar to CND Shellac in Romantique. Make sure to pack this with you for touch ups. Essence on the Go retails for $1.99 at Ulta stores.

CND Shellac in Hollywood

This is the color I chose for my SF trip. It went with all of my outfits! CND Shellac's Hollywood is red hot red, with light gold specs. A great red that goes with a lot, and transfers well into summery months.

CND Shellac Layering - Asphalt and Negligee

I really like layering Shellac Negligee over the darker Shellac colors. Pictured is two layers of Asphalt and one layer of Negligee (and of course base and top coats). It has a bit of a denim look to it. Easing my way from winter to spring colors!

CND Shellac swatches

Today was a day of CND Shellacing! My best friend Tina surprised with me a full on manicure before my business trip this week. Finger soaks, cuticle removal and even a massage. It was so relaxing!

I was debating between neutral Romantique and Asphalt - and decided on Asphalt (below). Bold move for a client presentation, but goes with both of my outfits, so I think I'm all set.

CND Shellac Asphalt

Tina did her nails in Masquerade & Mother of Pearl. She was feeling inspired by Carnival and Mardi Gras :) Along with her base and top coat, she used two coats of Masquerade and one coat of Mother of Pear. Rocking nails.

CND Shellac Cleary Pink or Clearly Clear?

I Shellac'd my nails last night since I was leaving for Chicago today for work, and didn't want to worry about a chipped nail while traveling. I wanted to test a new color for you all, so I decided on Clearly Pink. I was a little disappointed. They should have named this color Clearly Clear. It is as clear as a top coat. I read on the CND site that it was made for those who can't wear color to work (ie interpreters, nurses). So I understand why they launched it with their second line, but be warned, its really clear.

I put one coat of Cleary Pink, and one coat of Romantique, to add color (along with base and to coat). Want to see more Shellac swatches? Check out my other Shellac posts!

CND Shellac Rock Royalty

My NYE nails! CND Shellac in Rock Royalty with Zillionaire glitter on my ring finger.

I've been noticing reality show stars, magazine pictures and Pinterest trends with one finger nail different than the rest. I don't like totally opposite colors, but I do like the glitter look on just one. I've seen Rihanna do this a lot as well.

Check out my other CND Shellac swatch posts.

CND Shellac Decadence

I chose CND Shellac Decadence for my holiday nail color. It's a lot brighter than what it looks like in the bottle. It's a pretty 'Christmas' red, more warm, unlike Hollywood or Wildfire, which are cooler toned reds, more like '4th of July' reds.

I just purchased Masquerade and Fedora at the beauty supply store. Swatches to come soon!

CND Shellac Hollywood

Here's a swatch of CND Shellac in Hollywood. Similar to Wildfire, but with a shimmer. In some lights, the shimmery gold undertone made the color look a little red-orange. It's a beautiful color for holiday festivities.

Shellac Layering - Barbie Pink

I've never been so happy with Shellac layering before. I got the idea from I Heart Cosmetics blog to layer Gotcha & Strawberry Smoothie. What did I get? Barbie pink!

Here's what I did:
Shellac base coat - cure for 10 seconds
1 coat of Gotcha - cure for 2 minutes
1 coat of Strawberry Smoothie - cure for 2 minutes
Shellac top coat - cure for 2 minutes

This looks a lot like Zoya's Barbie shade. It may be very Spring/Summer, but will sport it for 2 weeks in the Fall nonetheless.

Rock Royalty Shellac swatch

I'm back! So sorry for the long delay in posts. I promise there is a contest coming up soon! In the meantime, I've been playing with new Fall Shellac colors!

This is CND Shellac's Rock Royalty. A deep dark purple. I included a few different shots since I couldn't capture it correctly with the lighting. I love the color, dark is in for Fall!

New Shellac Fall Colors

Love love love that CND Shellac is keeping up with seasons and coming out with new lines. Their Fall line is small but exciting. Colors are: Zillionaire, Studio White, Moonlight & Roses, Purple Purple, Asphalt, Hotski to Tchotchke. From the picture above it may look like there are 3 basic whites, but they are very different up close. Zillionaire has a ton of sparkle to it, probably meant to lay over other colors, Studio White is more for french manicure tips, and Moonlight & Roses is an iridescent pink (swatch below).

Tina did her nails in Asphalt over the weekend. This is an awesome color for Fall. Apparently CND has a regular nail polish in Asphalt so this was a big ask from fans.

Moonlight & Roses - Pink iridescent/opalescent shine.

CND Shellac Layering - Nude!

-->
With Shellac being such a hit, CND came up with a layering chart to help create new Shellac colors based on ones that are already out. There was a need for more color options, fans were getting antsy, and the CND came to the creative rescue.

When I first tried layering with my BFF and manicurist extraordinaire, Tina, it looked horrible. I think it had something to do with our Fedora bottle being a little old. I tested Iced Cappuccino and Romantique last night and it came out okay. It created a nude color, which Shellac doesn’t really come in yet so it was fun to create a new, unique color. Plus, I’m traveling to Boston today for a work conference so I needed something neutral to last all week…perfect!

Check out the Shellac layering PDFs.

Tina just placed an order for Asphalt and Moonlight and Roses, both new Shellac colors. I'll be providing swatches soon!

CND Shellac Hot Pop Pink

Hot Pop Pink from CND Shellac. This is part of their second collection. It reminds me a lot of Tutti Frutti from the first collection. Beautiful color. Bright fuchsia pink, perfect for summer!

If you've read my blog for awhile, you know I'm a huge Shellac fan. I went to my kettlebell class and bleached our outdoor vinyl furniture today and my nails don't show a trace of any damage. This stuff is amazing!
