Purple Nail Polish 'Dupes'

This is probably my 5th time saying  this...but I love Fall for the change up in nail polish colors! I love deep, dark hues on my fingers, and it just doesn't feel right unless it's chilly outside!

I was organzing my polishes over the weekend and found several very similar bottles, so I'm going to start swatching and posting the duplicates, or 'dupes.' Here's the first set!
purple nail polish
Both brands are a beautiful purplish magenta color, nice and rich for Fall. It's a bright color that  pops, but definitely not too loud. I think it's work appropriate - I wore it to a client meeting today!

Zoya in Mason had slightly more shimmer to it, but once I put a top coat on each, they both looked the same. I had to keep reminding myself which brand I used on each hand!

Do you have any dupes in your collection? If so, which ones?

Jessica Cosmetics A Night at the Opera

One of my favorite things about Fall is deep, dark nail colors! Here are swatches from Jessica Cosmetics A Night at the Opera collection. Details on the shades are below from JessicaCosmetics.com...

Velvet & Pearls - a brand new definition of black
Opening Night - a debut-worthy fuchsia (similar to Zoya's Mason)
Standing Ovation - a green guaranteed to get glowing notices (I will be sporting this for St. Patty's Day for sure)
Overture - the start of something big in iridescent copper (fun to wear with neutrals)
Blue Aria - an unforgettable song in cobalt (Love the name! This is a dark blue. Looks black in most lights)
Prima Donna - a violet celebration of the inner diva (fun purple for fall!)

I'm a huge fan of Jessica Cosmetics nail polishes. This line is perfect for the Fall we're having in Michigan. It's 80 degrees! But I can still get away with wearing some of these colors (Prima Donna, Opening Night, and Standing Ovation) since they aren't too dark, and could pass for a Spring/Summer shade.

What colors are you wearing on your nails this Fall?

Patriotic Reds for Election Day

Looking for a new fiery red? Below are some Splurge and Steal options!

SPLURGE
CND Shellac in Hollywood is a bold red with light gold specs in it. Make sure that the salon you choose for CND Shellac applications is a certified CND salon. If not, you will not be getting your money's worth out of your Shellac mani!

SEMI-STEAL
Jessica Nails nail colour in Scarlett. I am a huge fan of Jessica polish. The colors are always rich and it wears really well.

MAJOR STEAL
Essence Colour & Go in Fame Fatale is a bright and shiny red and super affordable. Available at Ulta stores and Ulta.com for only $1.99.

Now go out and VOTE!

Jessica Summer 2012 Gelato Mio Collection

If these colors don't SCREAM summer to you, then you're from a different planet! Jessica based her summer line off of Gelato colors...how appropriate! The line is called Gelato Mio, which is Italian for 'My Ice Cream.' Yum.

Colors (starting in the upper left, going clockwise) are: Barely Blueberry, Lime Cooler, Banana Peel, Tangerine Dreamz, Strawberry Shake It, & Surfer Boyz 'n Berry.

Most of these needed 3 coats to get a solid, streak free color. I got a pedicure last week with Surfer Boyz 'n Berry and the lady next to me asked to borrow my color.

Want to get creative with this line? Check out a post on one of my favorite nail polish blogs, The PolishAholic. She did a Gelato Mio Water Marble manicure and it's dreamy!

Jessica Cosmetics Heavy Petal Collection

I'm a huge fan of Jessica Cosmetics nail polish. They offer beautiful shades that are long wearing and go on very easily, usually streak free.

Their Spring 2012 Heavy Petal Collection is awesome. The collection is made up of different shades and finishes of pinks and purple. Each color has a solid version, a soft metallic version and light shimmer shade version (these are pretty sheer). From top left clockwise the colors are: Witchy Wisteria, Dased Dahlia, Hotter than Hibiscus, Rolling Rose, Born 2 Pansy, & Geranium Gypsy.

I used Dased Dahlia for a pedicure and it looked awesome. Rolling Rose & Born 2 Pansy are my favorites for a quick polish that will go with a lot of different outfits and since they are semi-sheer.
