What's in My Beach Bag?

Always in my hand bag = a hand cream or lotion with SPF in it.

Hissyfit Handy Work protects your hands with SPF 30+ and UVA/UVB protection. It's non-greasy and has a hint of citrus scent to it. It's a little bit pricey, at $29 each, it definitely falls into the 'luxurious' category. I would say it's worth the investment if you are in the sun a lot and worry about your hands aging.

Some additional benefits are:
  • All natural SPF with advanced zinc/titanium dioxide technology – not chemically derived
  • Broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection
  • Formulated with soothing botanical extracts of Aloe and Vitamin E
  • Intense hydration of Olive Butter and Macadamia Oil

Hand Lotion Reviews

Along side all of the lip balms and lip glosses I have in my car, my desk, my bedroom, and in every purse...I have a hand lotion.
Here's the current line up:
I like this lotion for the car because it quickly soaks into my skin, and doesn't leave a bit of residue or slick feeling...perfect to use while driving, so your hands don't slide around the steering wheel. The Shielding Lotion transforms the 'outer layer of skin into a hydrating invisible shield.' Used and prescribed by dermatologists, this lotion is great for those with dry skin and that don't like to reapply lotion often. The instructions on the this bottle recommend every 2-8 hours until moisture level improves, then just 12-24 hours.
Retails at $18.
It's body lotion, but I use it on my hands and arms before I go to bed. The soothing scent of lavender is known to calm the senses, and act as a sleep aid. I'm no doctor, but if you have trouble falling asleep, or have restless nights, it could help to try the using the calming scent of lavender. Since this scent is officially 'Lavender Vanilla,' the smell of the flower isn't too overwhelming. Beautiful packaging, dark purple glass bottle, it's a staple for my nightstand.
Retails at $13

At my desk....Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Rejuvenating Hand Cream
This was a holiday gift from my coworker...so sweet! I love the antique-ish packaging that Crabtree & Evelyn uses. La Source has a very distinct scent, kind of ocean-like, but not too overpowering for work. This formula leaves hands really soft and smooth, with a younger appearance. It's not too greasy so it doesn't leave any residue on my laptop while at work.

This formula contains a unique time-released capsule of antioxidants, which have been found to minimize the damaging effects of free radicals, while natural butters and oils have been added to moisturize the skin.
Retails at $25

Made from ingredients of Tahitian black pearl powder, seaweed and Dead Sea minerals, this hand cream leaves my hands soft and smooth. The pearl powder gently exfoliates, but not gritty like normal exfoliaters. It's non-greasy and has a wonderful smell to it, kind of similar to a men's cologne, but I can't exactly put my finger on the exact one. It stays on even after washing hands, scent and all, shielding them long-term from environmental effects. It also contains sunscreen filters, U.V.A., which is a definitely something I look for in a hand cream, especially in the summer months. It's a little bit higher of a price point, but contains twice as much as most moisturizers do.
Retails $28.25

In my purse...La Roche-Posay Lipikar Xerand Hand Repair Cream
This lotion should be labeled luxurious. This is my first experience with La Roche-Posay outside of sunscreen and I'm extremely impressed. It's non-oily and water-resistant, making it last even through hand washings. It uses glycerin, thermal spring water, and allantoin (softening agent) to banish dry, irritated, hands. It's unscented, which is why I keep it in my purse for my husband to use as well :)
Retails $13.50

Gilden Tree Hand, Nail & Cuticle Salve

This lotion completes my morning work routine. Every morning on my way to work I put Gilden Tree Hand, Nail & Cuticle Salve on to moisturize my dry hands. This lotion soaks into my skin quickly and doesn’t leave my hands greasy.

My peeling nails and dry cuticles get extra special attention with this lotion. I make sure to massage around my nail beds closely. The hand salve quickly soaks into my dry cuticles and masks (and helps!) the dryness.

I got to try this lotion in Kiran Forest and it smells amazing. By amazing, I mean, like your favorite men’s cologne , but not overbearing. When my husband and I carpool to work and I apply it on our way in, he says to me ‘That smells good! Can I have some?’

What's at my Desk? - Poshe' Potion of Youth & Cuticle Care

Whether you are back to school or back to work (or working all year round like me), a good hand moisturizer is key to keeping hands moisturized during the day and looking healthy year round. I in love with Poshe' Potion of Youth, and use it religiously throughout my work day. Even though my profession isn't 'hand model,' I still think it's very professional to have nice looking hands. I would never go into a boardroom meeting with chipped nail polish and dry flaking hands.

Poshe' Potion of Youth smells wonderful, but definitely not overpowering. It reminds me of a face cream that my grandmother use to use. I'm constantly sharing it with my coworkers. It doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy and I love the way it makes my cuticles look.

Poshe' Cuticle Care is my morning, lunch , evening and before bed must have. I apply it like clockwork through the day and has definitely made a difference with how my cuticles look. They are healthier and cleaner looking. I've also seen a difference with my nails, they look healthier and are growing a lot stronger.

These two items are parked at my desk (I have two Poshe' Cuticle Care tubes so I can keep one at home and one at work) all year long and give me a nice little beauty break to break up my busy days.
