MAC Nail Transformations

MAC is releasing a collection of nail lacquers and transformative topcoats designed to give nails a stylish twist. The light peach beige of Skin, deep plum of Rebel and sheer nude of Quiet Time undergo a unique transformation when combined with one of six glowing topcoats.

I love the creativity of this line and being able to style your nail polish to fit your mood.

Available online now and in store July 3rd.

Zoya Cashmere Collection

I couldn't get to this collection fast enough to swatch on my nails, so I decided to give you sneak peak on a nail wheel. This is Zoya's Cashmere collection. The colors are so rich and perfect for Fall. Now that we're into September, I think it's time to go darker on my nails...

My favorite colors from this line are Livingston and Sailor. Livingston is a bright red that will be fun to wear with neutral color clothing, especially with black, it will really pop. Sailor is a deep, deep, blue that I will wear to an upcoming University of Michigan tailgate for sure. It can look black in some light. With leather in this Fall, this will look great paired with a leather jacket or a top with black leather trim.

I'll report back on the wear time for this line in a later post. In the meantime, please leave me a comment below and let me know what your favorite Fall nail polish is...

Butter London Colour Clash

Loving Butter London's Autumn/Winter 2013 line, Colour Clash. Lots of fun, bright colors. Here's a swatch of Pimms, an opaque sunflower cremey yellow. This is going to look great during college football season...go Maize & Blue (University of Michigan alum here!).

On a separate note, I had a blast testing out my new lightbox when taking these pictures! Thanks and props to my brother in law for making it for me!

Zoya Nail Polish Stunning Collection

Loving Zoya nail polish Sunning Summer 2013 collection. Fun, bright colors for fingers and toes. From top left, going clockwise, the colors are:

Darcy - Bright, yellow (good for future Michigan games!)
Thandie - A creamy orange
Josie - A tealish-green
Rocky - Love the name as much as the color. Will look pretty on toes and paired with denim
Yana - A bright reddish-pink. Another good one for toes
Micky - My favorite from the collection. A Pretty coral-pink that will go with most everything.

For each swatch I did a base coat with two color coats and a quick dry top coat. I always have great wear with Zoya nail polish, lasting in good condition for 3-4 days, and minor touch ups needed after that.

You can purchase these (and many other colors!) from Zoya.com. You can purchase the entire set in a sampler kit for $48 or buy them individually for $8 a pop.

Maybelline Color Show in Dressed to Kill

Maybelline New York Color Show nail lacquer in Dressed to Kill. Awesome deep brownish red for Fall.

Manicure compliments of the Allure lounge at NYFW.

Smitten Polish review

I'm currently obsessing over Smitten Polish. I discovered this brand from Never Enough Nails blog and purchased from Etsy immediately! I really wanted the polish in Confection but it was sold out (not surprising since it's adorable!). It reminded me of fun-fetti cupcakes!

I purchased the polish in Strawberry Tart (see above, layered over Essie's Van'd Go). Noelie, the creator of Smitten Polish, is so sweet! She's working hard on these polishes and literally can't keep them in stock!

I made sure to shake my bottle thoroughly to make sure the glitter wasn't settled at the bottom. I put two coats on in the picture above. The bigger pieces of glitter are easy to shift around with the brush for strategic placement before they dry. The different glitter spec sizes are what make this polish so cool. It's not an obnoxious glitter nail polish.  I would wear this out to a party or as weekend polish. I'm going to put it on my toes too :)

You can purchase Smitten Polish from the Etsy store. I would also check out Noelie's blog to keep up to date on her inventory and new colors.

Np2 Nail Polish set

Currently loving Np2 nail duos! Each tower of nail polish contains a gorgeous color coat and quick dry top coat. Genius idea. Top, base and color coat all in one stackable product.

I have Addiction on my nails in the below picture, which is a light pearly pink. I used the quick dry coat for a base, two coats of color, and then a clear coat for a top coat. It dried really quick, and I topped it off with some nail oil. This is a nice neutral color for work and travel. Color is going strong after 4 days, but may need to touch up tonight.

You can shop online at http://store.np2beauty.com/. They are priced at $22.50 a piece, which isn't bad for both a color and quick dry polish duo. You can break them apart and carry them separately too. These would make cute gifts. I'm already thinking about stocking stuffers. Or even bridal party gifts, and you can match the nail polish to the bridesmaids dresses!

Polish & Co Nail Polish Review

I recently tested out Polish & Co nail polish in Dreamsicle (creamy orange) and Too Much Information  (bright pink). I'm really impressed with the quality and wear of this line! Not to mention the long applicator brush. I think it helps with neater application.

The swatch of my hand in Too Much Information doesn't do this color justice. It's a bright pink, and the picture makes it look a little orange. This manicure lasted about 5 days with a few minor touch ups. Not bad!

Remember, the color of 2012 is Orange! Dreamsicle on my toes was a nice pop of color to my outfits that week. Who says your 'pop' of color this season can't be on your toes?

Can't wait to check out the new line of colors Polish & Co has out for Fall.

Zoya Spring 2012

Loving Zoya Spring line!

TRUE
'Honestly, Beautiful Color' A fresh bloom of dewy color, inspired by the runway looks of top designers, this collection features slightly muted and unexpected spring shades in six easy to wear full coverage creams and metallics.
Cho - full coverage, vanilla shimmer metallic
Farah - full coverage, latte beige cream (my favorite from the line)
Bevin - pale sage green cream
Skylar - silvered slate blue metallic
Tru - gilded purple orchid metallic
Lotus - light lotus purple metallic

FLECK EFFECT
'Mylar Fleck Top coats that can be worn alone or layered over other nail polishes. These have the coolest 3d effect I have ever seen. They are also not bulky like regular glitter, and it's more flesh with the nail bed.
Maisie - blue tint with mylar green fleck effect
Opal - green tint with mylar green fleck effect
Chloe - pink tint with mylar green and gold fleck effect

Suggested Retail price: $8.00 bottle

CND Shellac Rock Royalty

My NYE nails! CND Shellac in Rock Royalty with Zillionaire glitter on my ring finger.

I've been noticing reality show stars, magazine pictures and Pinterest trends with one finger nail different than the rest. I don't like totally opposite colors, but I do like the glitter look on just one. I've seen Rihanna do this a lot as well.

Check out my other CND Shellac swatch posts.

China Glaze Colours from the Capital

Here are swatches from China Glaze's "Color From the Capital" collection inspired by The Hunger Games. If you haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend it! It's a great item to add to your holiday wish list and an entertaining holiday vacation read. First movie based on the first book comes out in March! Check out the trailer.

China Glaze's Eye Candy

3-D glitter? Yes please! China Glaze's new limited edition collection, Eye Candy, is inspired by Marilyn Monroe's timeless allure...Diamonds. These super sexy glitter polishes will look great by themselves or layered over a solid color. Just in time to shine for the holidays!

They will be available at salons and beauty supply retailers in mid-December.

OPI Designer Series - DS Bold swatch

Tina has been playing with OPI's new Designer Series, here's what she had to say:

New this fall from OPI's Designer Series is "OPI DS Bold." It's a pinkish/coral shade (rather than red as described by OPI), with silver and pink glitter. I have applied two coats in this picture, but the more coats you apply...the bolder it looks. It's a bit difficult to remove (due to the glitter) however; it's a fun color for fall, so it's worth it!

CND Shellac Hot Pop Pink

Hot Pop Pink from CND Shellac. This is part of their second collection. It reminds me a lot of Tutti Frutti from the first collection. Beautiful color. Bright fuchsia pink, perfect for summer!

If you've read my blog for awhile, you know I'm a huge Shellac fan. I went to my kettlebell class and bleached our outdoor vinyl furniture today and my nails don't show a trace of any damage. This stuff is amazing!

China Glaze Summer 2011 - Island Escape

Piggy Paint for Kids

Piggy Paint nail polishes are for kids! I was excited to try this polish out. Not only did I love the color, but I thought it was a really cool idea.

Piggy Paint Nail Polish is safe for kids because it is:
- non-toxic
- low odor
- water-based formula
- hypoallergenic
- fun, vibrant colors
- cruelty-free
- safe for use during pregnancy!

I tried this color out in Girls Rule, which is a shimmery purple. I painted my nails at night with a base and top coat, and the next day it started to chip. This is definitely a great concept for kids, but doesn't transfer to adults (washing dishes must have did it in!), which is a bummer, since the colors are outstanding!

Obsessive Compulsive Nail Polish Wasabi Swatch

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics are outrageous! I love them, super bold and fun. Check out the polish I sported for St. Patty's Day. It's called Wasabi. I thought it would turn out green, but it was more of an electric yellow. It's pretty thin paint, so it needs about 3 coats to get rid of streaks.

Chanel nail colour Jade Rose

Ooh lala. Nude is in this season! Check out Chanel nail colour in Jade Rose. This is one base coat and two color coats. I probably could have used a 3rd color coat for more even coverage. At any rate, I love it!
