Essie in Action

Gotta show some team support at the Bears vs. Browns game tonight in Cleveland! This is Essie in Action. Since I can't cheer for the Detroit Lions...Go Browns!

Weekend Shopping Haul

We covered so much ground shopping this weekend. Lots of good finds with the mother and sister in law in town!

As I was leaving H&M I told my mother in law, "all I want is a belt with a big bow on it." And the first thing I saw when I walked into Zara in Soho was....

Bam! Isn't this cute? It comes in cream too. $19.99

I was happy the forecast said rain today so I could wear my new Dizzy rain boots (or I should probably say, booties)! I got these at Laila Rowe at W84th and Columbus. Super cute store with a large selection of fun rain boots and accessories. These ankle rain booties retail at $24.

I really wanted a new laptop bag for work. Something that looked a little more like a purse to transfer from work to night. I found this Remi & Reid bag at Century 21. I love the individual pockets inside for my work badge and phone, and hidden pockets outside for my subway card. The fringe is on a keyring so I can remove it when I get annoyed with it. Kind of excited for Fall now...

I love Jessica Simpson's tops, dresses and shoes. I found this Jessica Simpson top at Century 21. The front is solid grey, and the back is a sheer, creme, pleated back. This will look cute paired with skinny jeans, a long necklace and flats.

I'm on a blazer kick, even in the summer, I like to wear them over dresses. This purple one caught my eye at Century 21. It's made by Vivienne Tam. It's a little bit thicker than my summer blazers, so I'm going to tuck it away for Fall. I love the detail of the button, very 'royal' looking. It actually looked pretty cute over the Jessica Simpson top. I can pair it with skinny jeans in the fall, or wear it over a dress and tights.

Essie Splash of Grenadine

I've been on a huge Essie kick lately. Splash of Grenadine is a pretty light purple. I have to get my fill of summery colors before it's over!

Np2 Nail Polish set

Currently loving Np2 nail duos! Each tower of nail polish contains a gorgeous color coat and quick dry top coat. Genius idea. Top, base and color coat all in one stackable product.

I have Addiction on my nails in the below picture, which is a light pearly pink. I used the quick dry coat for a base, two coats of color, and then a clear coat for a top coat. It dried really quick, and I topped it off with some nail oil. This is a nice neutral color for work and travel. Color is going strong after 4 days, but may need to touch up tonight.

You can shop online at http://store.np2beauty.com/. They are priced at $22.50 a piece, which isn't bad for both a color and quick dry polish duo. You can break them apart and carry them separately too. These would make cute gifts. I'm already thinking about stocking stuffers. Or even bridal party gifts, and you can match the nail polish to the bridesmaids dresses!

Polish & Co Nail Polish Review

I recently tested out Polish & Co nail polish in Dreamsicle (creamy orange) and Too Much Information  (bright pink). I'm really impressed with the quality and wear of this line! Not to mention the long applicator brush. I think it helps with neater application.

The swatch of my hand in Too Much Information doesn't do this color justice. It's a bright pink, and the picture makes it look a little orange. This manicure lasted about 5 days with a few minor touch ups. Not bad!

Remember, the color of 2012 is Orange! Dreamsicle on my toes was a nice pop of color to my outfits that week. Who says your 'pop' of color this season can't be on your toes?

Can't wait to check out the new line of colors Polish & Co has out for Fall.

    Anastasia Brow Wiz Review

I've tried a lot of eyebrow pencils and eyebrow powders, and the Brow Wiz from Anastasia is one of my favorites. It gives a very natural look to brows that need a little bit of added color. I love the fact that the pencil allows you to draw on such precise fine lines, that "you" have the option as to how dramatic you want your brows to look. The lighter color (Ash Blonde) worked great at filling in my medium blonde brows. It doesn't smear and last up to 24 hours (even in the 90-100 degree heat waves that we have been having in Michigan). The handy spooley brush on the other end of the pencil helps to tame your brows as well as blending in the color. My brows look so full and natural now, almost as if they were done by a professional!

    Getting Gorgeous with CVS Beauty

Last weekend I attended the Getting Gorgeous event with CVS Beauty at the Warwick Hotel in NYC. The Getting Gorgeous team put on a ridiculously fun event! Fun vendors and demonstrations, and lots of great conversations were had while mingling and in line for some of the events.

The CVS Beauty Club has a ton of great products for us beauty product junkies. Here are two that caught my eye and I had to try...

    Essence of Beauty fragrance
I love the new scents that CVS Essence of Beauty has added to their line! I was able to talk to one of the fragrance-ologists (not her real title!) that helped with the making of these new scents. I was able to test Sensual Night, one of the four new scents, and smell all of the individual oils that went into making the scent. I learned all of the different oils and notes come together to form the final scent. I always wondered how all of the fragrance 'notes' worked together! Each scent comes in a body mist and eau de parfum.

Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo
I've been trying really hard not to wash my hair 7 days a week, so I was really looking forward to trying out Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo. First off, the name, to me, is hilarious! I really liked the results I got with this dry shampoo spray. It's a spray that turns into a powder, soaking up oil from your scalp. It had a lemony scent to it, which I really liked. This kept my hair smelling fresh throughout the day. Always a plus when your hair smells like what you ate the night before!

    Hershey's Simple Pleasures
Okay, this isn't a beauty product, but these little bites of heaven were so delicious I had to share. Hershey's Simple Pleasures are individually wrapped chocolate goodies, filled with deliciousness. The hubby and I polished off a bag in one night...don't tell! These are great to add to gifts or have out in a candy dish for company. Yum!

Essie nail polish in Guilty Pleasure

This is Essie nail polish in Guilty Pleasure. It's a creamy coral-pink color. Really pretty for summer. I thought it was a fitting color and name since I was getting my second NYC manicure in a week - I can't help it, they are so cheap here!

Bath & Body Works Paris Party

Welcome to Paris! Bath and Body Works is having a huge sale in store and online to help launch their new French inspired scents! Make sure to visit and be French for a day! All stores will have different events, but some include taking your photo next to the Eiffel Tower, exclusive gifts, and more!

    GG Gatsby Root Lift Spray

All this humidity got your hair bogged down? Pump up your hair volume with GG Gatsby's Over-the-Top Root Lift Spray. Love this stuff.
After washing and towel drying my hair, I lift up sections of my hair and give it a quick spray. This spray gives your roots a nice boost in volume, without being sticky like hairspray. My volume lift stayed throughout the day, even after being out in the New York City heat and humidity all day. Another test: My hair even looked good after sleeping on it. I woke up without my hair flat to my head. I used a little dry shampoo on it and I was good to go to work today.

Don't forget to also try your luck at winning a Coach gift card! They are giving away over 100 - try several times a day!

Giveaway Break - Elle nail polish set

This may be old news to you, but July was National Ice Cream Month! Besides eating lots of ice cream, I celebrated by painting my nails ice cream colored flavors! My husband’s favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip. No matter where we go it’s what he orders. I used Elle nail polishes in Surfer Babe & Go Go Coco to create a mint chocolate chip nail look. Both my version and the Elle version are below.

This is my first time trying Elle nail polish. It went on smooth and had solid color with 2 coats.  I liked it, especially the minty green Surfer Babe. I’m going to do all my nails this colors next. It’s a great summer color for nails and toes. Elle nail polish is sold at Kohl’s stores and Kohls.com for $10.

Like the mint chocolate chip look? You can try it out for yourself by entering to win a bottle of Surfer Babe & Go Go Coco!
